Why put media on a CDN?
Images and video are usually most of a page's weight. Serving them from a content delivery network means each visitor downloads them from a nearby edge location instead of your origin server, which cuts load times and takes bandwidth pressure off your hosting. For static sites, documentation, portfolios and side projects, that's often the single biggest speed win available.
How Rapidfile's CDN works
Every file you upload gets a permanent direct link like https://cdn.rapidfile.cc/Ab12Cd34Ef/hero.webp. Files are stored in object storage and delivered through Cloudflare's global network, with HTTP range support for video seeking. There's nothing to configure: no bucket policies, no access keys, no custom domain to set up.
| Free | Creator | Studio | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Storage | 1 GB | 100 GB | 500 GB |
| CDN requests / day | 100,000 | 500,000 | 2,000,000 |
| Max file size | 100 MB | 5 GB | 20 GB |
A request is one file delivered to one browser. A page with five images viewed 1,000 times a day uses about 5,000 requests, well within the free allowance.
Using CDN links in your site
Use the direct link like any other image URL. A good, fast <img> tag looks like this:
<img src="https://cdn.rapidfile.cc/Ab12Cd34Ef/hero.webp" width="1600" height="900" alt="Product screenshot" loading="lazy" decoding="async">
For a muted background video:
<video src="https://cdn.rapidfile.cc/Ab12Cd34Ef/loop.mp4" autoplay muted loop playsinline preload="metadata"></video>
Good to know
- Files are not transformed. There is no on-the-fly resizing or format conversion — upload the sizes and formats you want to serve (WebP or AVIF for images is a good default).
- Links are tied to the file. To change an image, upload the new version and update the link; deleting a file makes its links stop working.
- Building an app? If your users upload files from your own product, the Rapidfile Upload API gives you API keys, signed uploads and webhooks, with files on the same CDN.
Frequently asked questions
Is the CDN really free?
Yes, within the Free plan: 1 GB of storage and 100,000 CDN requests per day. Paid plans raise both and include free bandwidth.
Can I use my own domain?
Not at the moment. Files are served from cdn.rapidfile.cc.
Does it resize images on the fly?
No. Files are delivered as uploaded. Export the sizes you need before uploading.
Can my app upload to the CDN programmatically?
Yes — use the Rapidfile Upload API, which is designed for uploads from your own app.
