What you get for every image

Each upload gets two kinds of links. The share page (media.rapidfile.cc/i/…) shows the picture on a clean page with its size, dimensions and a zoomable viewer — good for sending to a person. The direct link (cdn.rapidfile.cc/<id>/<file name>) points straight at the file, so it works anywhere an image URL is expected: <img> tags, CSS backgrounds, Markdown, chat apps that unfurl images, and forum signatures.

Rapidfile also prepares the usual snippets for you, so you never have to hand-write them: HTML, Markdown, BBCode and an iframe for the share page.

Supported image formats

FormatBest for
PNGScreenshots, UI, diagrams and anything with sharp text or transparency.
JPEGPhotos. Small files with good quality; universally supported.
WebPPhotos and graphics for the web. Usually smaller than JPEG and PNG at the same quality.
AVIFThe most efficient modern format. Great for websites that care about speed.
GIFShort animations and memes. See GIF hosting for tips.

Images are stored and delivered exactly as uploaded — we don't strip quality, resize or convert them. That means what you see is what your visitors get, and it also means it pays to export web-sized files: a 6000-pixel photo straight from a camera can be 10 MB or more, while the same image at 2000 pixels in WebP is often under 500 KB.

How to host an image

  1. Upload

Drag the image onto the box, paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V, or tap Choose files on your phone. You can upload many images at once.

  2. Copy

Pick the format you need — direct link, Markdown, HTML or BBCode — and press copy.

  3. Share or embed

Paste it into your page, post or message. You can rename or delete the image later in your library.

Tips for fast-loading images

  • Size images for where they appear. A blog column rarely needs more than 1600 pixels wide. Bigger files cost your visitors time and your plan requests nothing extra, but they do use storage.
  • Always set width and height on <img> so the page doesn't jump while loading. Rapidfile's HTML snippet includes them when the dimensions are known.
  • Use loading="lazy" for images below the fold. Our snippet adds it for you.
  • Write useful alt text. The image title you set in Rapidfile is used as the alt text in generated code.

Privacy: unlisted, not secret

There's no public gallery, feed or search on Rapidfile Media, so your images are only reachable by people who have the link. Links are long and random, but anyone you share one with can pass it on. Don't host images you need to keep truly private — for one-off private sharing use a Rapidfile transfer with a password and an expiry instead.

Frequently asked questions

Is the image hosting free?

Yes. Free accounts get 1 GB of storage and 100,000 CDN requests per day, with images up to 100 MB each.

Can I hotlink the images on my website or forum?

Yes. Direct links on cdn.rapidfile.cc are made for embedding in websites, forums, docs and READMEs.

Do you compress or resize my images?

No. Files are served exactly as uploaded. A small preview is created in your browser for the library and link previews, but the original is untouched.

Can I delete an image later?

Yes. Open your library and delete it. The share page and the direct link stop working.

Can I upload HEIC photos from an iPhone?

HEIC is not supported in most browsers, so it is not accepted. iPhones convert to JPEG automatically when you pick photos in Safari, or you can set Camera › Formats to Most Compatible.
